The treatment model NE-CBT, created by Thomas Cordier is based on the neurology of the brain and its ability to heal and create new pathways. This is done by combining traditional talk therapy that develops strong rapport and trust while teaching the patient pertinent skills for self-mastery over emotions, thinking and behaviors. Although the basis of the approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral methods, the model explores and works on additional spheres of mental health wellness. The treatment corresponds with a self-help book for practice, deeper understanding, and a personalized guide for future reference. Each patient that uses the program is given empirically validated testing tools to ensure change and focus on important aspects of emotional wellness. Once a patient scores have dramatically improved and continue to sustain outcomes, the patient is graduated. If ever there is a need in the future, a NE-CBT therapist needs only a few sessions to work with the individual to help them get back on track because they are already familiar with the tools and skills needed to regain their momentum.
