Welcome!
Your thoughts have a huge influence on your view of the world and how you react to it. If you think negative thoughts, you are likely to perceive the world negatively and behave in negative ways. It's not the situation that causes negative feelings or behaviors, but how the situation is perceived through one's own thinking. Most irrational thoughts are learned through years of experience and become known as "automatic thoughts."
Life can be challenging, and outside influences can affect you. But if people, things, and situations were the only causes of your difficulties, then you would have no control over your life. Our experiences are shaped through perception, and our thoughts are seldom accurate. This often causes one to misperceive the situation without evaluating or gathering evidence before acting. As a result, the individual may experience uncomfortable and negative consequences while reaffirming a poor self-concept. We offer CBT for Anxiety and Neuro-Emotive CBT Counseling.
People often believe everything they think, especially when their emotions are so strong. By setting goals and developing new skills, you can learn to step back, evaluate the situation, and then make more rational choices before reacting. Doing so helps in avoiding negative consequences and improving your self-concept.
After learning how to adjust your perception and your overall thinking, you will feel more in control of your life and be better prepared to handle almost any type of situation you experience. You'll learn to automatically make clear-headed decisions, replacing the negative automatic thoughts with rationally positive thoughts that work better for you. And most importantly, you will be able to approach life with increased clarity, calmness, and rationality. Challenging a skewed perception should become effortless and instinctual.
Most people have more power over their situations than they think. After all, it is our perspectives that shape our world views and experiences. To better your life experience, you must alter your initial perspective. Once you realize that outside occurrences only hold the extent of power your perception gives them, you will have taken the first step in learning how to gain complete control over your thoughts. As you progress past this first step by learning and adopting the mental skills necessary, you can move towards your personal goals and achieve a happier, more successful life.
Our treatment revolves around your motivation to get better and how you actively work on learning and utilizing your new skills within daily occurrences. The desire to get better is commendable but only becomes incredible once it initiates the actions necessary to learn and develop. A person seeking help must utilize and practice the skills they learn to start gaining a new perception of life. By doing so, a noticeable change will transpire.
This treatment is ideal for anyone struggling with stress, anger management, sleeplessness, poor decision-making, life transitions, and anxiety and/or depression-based disorders. I wrote this probram over twenty years ago as a solution and a commitment to making treatment that could provide genuine results and constituency, as well as access to highly quality treatment.
We look forward to working with you!

Cordier Institute
Founder of NE-CBT & Interpersonal Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
NE-CBT was developed by Dr. Thomas A. Cordier based off of two decades of field work and research. His approach is based on neuro-informed aspects of understanding the mind, the premise that emotions come first and we can regulate emotions and behaviors based on thoughts (using a CBT model). NE-CBT asserts that our human connection is vital and incorporates other important aspects of an individual's life experiences, cultural and social experiences and our ability to incorporate empathy and emotional intelligence into our lives. NE-CBT is a treatment system used to treat multiple issues such as PTSD, OCD, Generalized Anxiety, Depression, and other disorders. Treatment can be both long term or short term based on the goals of the individual. Treatment is universal, but is tailored to each individual's needs.

You will be provided sections of a self-help workbook of modules that you will use as you proceed through treatment. This workbook helps to review and learn, serves as a reference, as well as a place to do self-help assignments as you move along with treatment.
Weekly sessions help you develop your skills and while working on your individual situation. During each session, you can share your situations and express your emotions as needed, but your provider will help you move forward. While it's important to discuss and share your daily life activities, we want to focus on how you can start feeling better. You will be provided with new tools and guidance to help you adjust according to the evidence-based skills provided in the session and in the workbook.
Occasionally, groups are included as a supplement to the treatment plan. Only those who have been seen by a NE-CBT provider or are current patients at our center are eligible to join a group. However, those who have been in treatment with us are welcome to participate in any group at any time.
You will be given a quick scoring system to help assess your levels of anxiety and depression, as well as your rational thinking. As you continue with the program, your scores should show a decline in anxiety and depression, and an improvement in your rational thinking. This will allow your provider to track your progress and determine when you are ready to complete the program.
We utilize videos from our YouTube channel where Dr. Cordier teaches specific elements of the program. This provides valuable reinforcement of the skills you are learning.
